A book that opens up the world of assistance dogs

Embark on a warm and picturesque journey with a guide dog and an assistant dog. This is an illustrated story about the adventures of two special four-legged friends who, together with their owners, go to see Paris. During the journey, the reader gets acquainted not only with their friendship and experiences, but also with an important educational message: what guide and assistant dogs are, how they help people in everyday life, and how to behave when meeting them in a public place.

This book is intended for both children and adults - anyone who cares about understanding, respect, and empathy.
This is a great way to get to know about these special dogs and their important work.

What is an assistance dog?

Assistance dogs are dogs specially trained and equipped to perform various tasks that make the daily lives of people with disabilities easier.

Assistance dogs can help in cases of mobility, hearing, autism, mental health or other medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, epilepsy). They bring things, open doors, alert you to sounds, recognize changes in health status, and provide more independence and confidence.

People often the only type of assistance dogs are guide dogs. The difference is that guide dogs help people with visual impairments navigate their environment, while there are many more assistance dog types. They support a much broader spectrum – they can help with mobility, hearing, autism, mental health or other medical conditions.

In Lithuania, few people know about assistance dogs, although their benefits to the quality of human life are invaluable. Due to the long training process and high price, such dogs are still very rare in our country.

Hundreds of people in Lithuania

waiting for such help, but we only have very few assistance dogs.

Assistance dogs can fundamentally change a person's life. They enable them to live more independently, reduce their dependence on the help of relatives or social workers, and help them feel like an equal member of society.

Unfortunately, there is still a huge shortage of assistance dogs in Lithuania, and many people have never heard of them. This means that hundreds of people who would benefit from such assistance are not receiving it.

Each story shows that an assistance dog is more than just a helper - it is a friend who provides self-confidence, a sense of security, and the opportunity to step more boldly into society.

The goal of our organization is to spread knowledge, form positive attitudes, and help the public understand that assistance dogs are not a luxury, but a necessity for those who need additional help in their everyday lives.

How can you contribute?

Change starts with small steps. Every form of your help contributes to a greater public understanding of the importance of assistance dogs and the needs of people with disabilities.
